New Korean government wishes further cooperation with Vietnam for co-development

(VOVWORLD) -Republic of Korean President Lee Jae Myung values the relationship with Vietnam, considers Vietnam a key partner in the region, and wishes to continue to cooperate closely with Vietnam for co-development, said Park Chang-dal, Special Envoy of the Korean President at a meeting with President Luong Cuong in Hanoi on Wednesday.

The Republic of Korea will work closely with Vietnam to successfully organize the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2025 in Korea and APEC 2027 in Vietnam, the Special Envoy added.

At the meeting, President Cuong said Vietnam values its relationship with the Republic of Korea and supports the development policies of the Lee Jae Myung administration.

Given the great development potential between the two countries, the President suggested further cooperation in science and technology, innovation, and training of high-quality human resources.

He stressed the need to achieve the goal of 150 billion USD bilateral trade turnover by 2030 in a balanced and sustainable manner, expand cultural and sports cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.

The President also asked the Republic of Korea to continue to care for and support nearly 350,000 Vietnamese citizens living, studying and working in Korea.
