Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management Cora Van Nieuwenhuizen and Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha inspected the situation in Cua Dai beach on Wednesday.

The experts showed satellite images of Cua Dai beach in 2004 and 2018 to see the disappearance of a long seaside and seawater intrusion in to the mainland. They suggested adjusting natural flows to shore up beaches and constructing artificial islands off Hoi An coast to shield it from strong waves.

The Dutch Minister said that the Netherlands has experience in protecting coastline and building dams to cope with sea water rising and climate change. Dutch experts will cooperate with Quang Nam province to restore Cua Dai beach in connection with protecting the Cham Islands Global Biosphere Reserve.
