(VOVworld)- Dialogue between NATO and Russia is moving ahead with great difficulty, and cooperation between the two sides was limited to political dialogue only, said Carmen Romero, NATO’s deputy press secretary on Wednesday, on the sidelines of a ministerial conference of the North-Atlantic pact in Turkey.
Ms.Romero said the foreign ministers of the member-states had decided to suspend practical cooperation but NATO was keeping lines of political communications open.
She added that NATO was also prepared to conduct dialogue at the military level if this might help prevent possible misunderstanding.
NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also said that current relations between NATO and Russia cannot be characterized as being like the Cold War, which contained divided military blocs facing an ideological struggle. But neither does there exist any strategic partnership between NATO and Russia.
