National Election Council convenes last plenary meeting

(VOVworld) - The National Election Council (NEC) convened its seventh session, its last plenary meeting, in Hanoi on Friday to discuss a draft report on the results of the general election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure, and a report on the verification of the eligibility of elected NA deputies.

(VOVworld) - The National Election Council (NEC) convened its seventh session, its last plenary meeting, in Hanoi on Friday to discuss a draft report on the results of the general election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure, and a report on the verification of the eligibility of elected NA deputies.

National Assembly’s Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said: “The general election, which took place on May 22, selected 496 deputies to the new legislature. However, during the verification of elected deputies’ qualifications, one has been under investigation. According to the Law on Election of National Assembly Deputies and People’s Council Members, based on the outcomes of the elections, complaints, and denunciation, the National Election Council will verify the eligibility of all newly-elected deputies and grant certificates recognizing their status as deputies of the 14th NA.”

The official report will be concluded at the session next Monday and then be presented at the first session of the 14th NA.
