Addressing the 2nd session of the National Committee on Digital Transformation in Hanoi on Wednesday, the Prime Minister said that digital transformation is closely linked with boosting administrative reform and developing an e-Government, digital economy, and digital society towards smart city development. This will facilitate the implementation of Industry 4.0 in Vietnam, with digital transformation associated with growth, rapid recovery, and sustainable development, he said.
Assigning specific tasks to each ministry, sector and locality, the Prime Minister urged for more drastic actions make national digital transform move forward breakthrough development, better serving people and businesses.
PM Chinh requested that competent agencies review and fine-tune institutions, revamp information technology infrastructure, and develop and apply digital technology in the national development. He stressed the need to mobilize resources, strengthen public-private partnerships, as well as to mobilize the contributions of the people to carry out digital transformation suitable to the situation, the national economy, and capacity.
The Ministry of Information and Communications praised the increasing contribution of the digital economy to the national economy, saying that the digital economy's revenue in the first quarter of the year reached an estimated 53 billion USD. The number of newly-established digital technology firms has grown to more than 65,000 enterprises by the end of February this year.
