The Mekong Delta is part of Vietnam’s southern key economic hub. Consisting of 13 cities and provinces, this region covers 13% of Vietnam’s total area. Bordering Ho Chi Minh City, the southeastern region, Cambodia, the Gulf of Thailand, and the East Sea (known internationally as the South China Sea), the Mekong Delta region holds a strategic geopolitical, economic, and military importance.
