(VOVworld) - The National Assembly Standing Committee on Thursday reviewed amendments to the Law on Environmental Protection.


The amendments aim to strengthen state management of environmental control, responsibilities of various state agencies and budget allocated to environmental protection work. Chairman of the National Assembly Committee for Culture, Education, and Youth, Dao Trong Thi, said environmental impact assessment must be carried out for all development projects: “Environmental impact assessment must be done in two phases from general to specific scopes. Otherwise, weaknesses can only be detected late after the project begins with public supervision. A twin step approach in impact assessment will save up cost.”
