Prime Minister Chinh said the government will strive to achieve the set GDP growth target of 5% to create momentum for next year’s socio-economic plan.

Chinh said the government has directed 36 key national transportation projects with 83 component projects, and will direct the early issuance of highway standards, mobilize investment resources to expand 5 expressways, and fulfill the goal of having 3,000km of expressway by the end of the term, according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

Mr. Chinh underlined the Government's consistent focus on national energy security, rapid implementation of National Power Development Plan VIII, and development of renewable electricity. The Government will work to improve the efficiency of electricity transmission and distribution, and accelerate completion of the 500kV power line from the Central region to the North. He stressed the need to promote green, clean, equitable energy transmission aligned with international commitments on environmental protection and climate change response.

Prime Minister Chinh then spoke about the digital economy: “The digital economy has grown 17% in 2023 and is expected to grow 20% next year, a year ahead of the target. The Government has created a national digital transformation program, and a strategy on a digital economy, a digital society and a digital citizenship. A National Steering Committee on digital transformation has been established. This year we aim at building national digital data and connecting population and sectoral data in order to promote digital transformation of the economy.”

The Prime Minister said Vietnam has pursued a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification, and multilateralization, being a good friend and a reliable partner of the international community.

At the closing of the National Assembly’s Q&A session, Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, said: “This is the first time in 15 terms that the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Ministers, and 21 Ministers and Sector Heads have answered direct questions from National Assembly deputies. The questions have been straight to the point and covered a variety of issues. Cabinet members and sector heads answered legislators’ questions in a frank, detailed manner and suggested possible solutions.”
