(VOVworld)-Vietnamese lawmakers have passed a resolution, setting the target of GDP growth at 6.7% for 2017. The National Assembly’s resolution also requires efforts to keep any increases in the Consumer Price Index at around 4%, strictly control public debt, improve the business climate, protect the environment and boost external relations. Deputy National Assembly Secretary General Hoang Thanh Tung said: “We need to accelerate external relations and people-to-people diplomacy as well as effectively implement commitments to econmic integration and signed free trade agrements. It’s also important to take full advantage of the ASEAN Community and execute the UN’s program on sustanable development”.

Earlier, National Assembly deputies discussed the bill on Foreign Trade Management and agreed on the need to fine tune it in line with the international treaties that Vietnam has signed. Mai Thi Anh Tuyet, a deputy for An Giang province, said: “It’s necessary to review quotas regarding some commodities in order to protect domestic production. The bill should consist of specific regulations to meet social demand and ensure transparency.”

The National Assembly also heard a government report on the revised law on Technology Transfer.
