National Assembly deputies have agreed on the need to create favorable conditions for foreigners working and living in Vietnam. They said that the draft law on the entry, exit and residence of foreigners in Vietnam has a direct impact on Vietnam’s economic development and international integration process. Truong Trong Nghia, a deputy for Ho Chi Minh city, said: “The draft law should clearly stipulate that foreigners must abide by Vietnam’s laws on entry, exit, transit, and residence. It should also prohibit individuals and organizations from taking advantage of foreigners to gain benefits when they enter or exit Vietnam.”

Nguyen Thi Dung, another deputy for Ho Chi Minh city said that the draft law needs to ensure foreigners’ interests while protecting national security and social order: “Vietnamese law stipulates that the state guarantees safety for foreigners’ lives, property, and legal rights and interests. I propose that their virtue, honor and other human rights are included.”

Further discussions on the draft law will take place on November 28th.
