Under the revised Law on Amnesty, amnesty will be granted on National Day, the Lunar New Year Holiday, and National Reunification Day.

“The revised Law on Amnesty demonstrates the leniency and humanity in Vietnamese policies. The State President will determine the amnesty based on circumstances specific to each case,” said Chairwoman of the National Assembly Committee on Judicial Affairs Le Thi Nga.

Regarding the Law on the Vietnam Coast Guard, Chairman of the National Assembly Committee on National Defense and Security Vo Trong Viet said the law institutionalizes the Party’s viewpoint on maritime police.

“The coast guard  plays a central role in ensuring law enforcement at sea. They will coordinate with the navy and the border guard force to safeguard Vietnam’s sea and island sovereignty,” Mr. Viet elaborated.

The same day, the National Assembly adopted the Law on Crop Production, the Law on Animal Husbandry, and revisions to the Law on Higher Education.
