NA deputy Vu Thi Luu Mai of Hanoi said the Resolution reflects the hope of Vietnamese businesses and people for a better future, so it needs to be more specific and ensure adequate resources, efficiency, and outcome.

“We can accept overspending or getting loans as long as it leads to great results," she said," Therefore, we need to make clear the outcome of the 346 trillion VND (15 billion USD) support program. Each aid package should be allocated based on binding rules and conditions. Some are of the opinion that the packages should cover all fields, but I think we should focus on sectors that have been severely hit by COVID-19 or have critical growth values.”

NA deputy Mai Van Hai of Thanh Hoa said the aid package for business recovery should focus on core fields such as tourism, accommodation, food services and logistics.  Some deputies said there should be support for informal workers as well, such as cash relief programs for rental support or house construction.

The Government has submitted to the NA an economic recovery and development program worth 15 billion USD for the 2022-2023 period. The funding will be used to ensure social security and support businesses recovery, spur infrastructure development, and reform institutions and the business environment. The NA is expected to vote on the draft Resolution on fiscal and monetary policies next Tuesday.
