(VOV/VOVworld)- The National Assembly deputies today discussed amendments to the Law on Lawyers. After five years of enforcement, the Law has brought in significant results and has many regulations in compliance with international lawyers’ practices. However, the technical quality of Vietnamese lawyers is still limited and the number of lawyers has not met with the increasing demands of society and judicial reforms. Proposed amendments to the law include the during of training and compulsory training for lawyers. Bui Manh Hung, a deputy from Binh Phuoc province agrees to allow teachers of law to practice as lawyers. "Lecturers at the University of Law are outstanding and it would be wasteful of grey matter unless those people also work as lawyers. Moreover, this binding will limit and prevent the combination of theory with practices in the University and impact the training quality", said Hung.

The National Assembly discussed a proposal of the resolution on votes of confidence applied to key position holders elected or approved by the National Assembly and People’s Councils. The votes of confidence are expected to be held in the closed voting manner every year.

National Assembly deputies today also discussed the electricity development master plan and tariffs as parts of amendments to the Law on Electricity. The amendments include incentives for investment in power sector where the national grid is not yet available as well as privileges for renewable energy projects. Deputy Huynh Van Tinh is from the southern province of Tien Giang:“The power development master plan must support social economic development and covers national and provincial investment to ensure feasibility. I agree with the National Assembly’s call for a 10 year master plan with orientation for the next 10 years in line with national and local socio economic development.”
