The province must ensure the safety of elections of deputies to the 15th NA and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure, which are slated for May 23rd. At a working session with the provincial steering committee for elections, Ngan, who is also head of the National Election Council, urged the province to continue with information and communications tasks to raise public awareness about the elections.

Channels seeking public opinions on the elections should be set up, she said, adding that conferences collecting constituents’ votes of confidence on candidates need to be held as scheduled. Ngan said:

'Consultative meetings should be held according to the regulations to ensure democracy and harmony. Those in the list need to be qualified to represent the people at People’s Councils and National Assembly.' said Ngan.

On Wednesday, Ms Ngan visited the President Ton Duc Thang Memorial Complex in Long Xuyen city, An Giang province.
