At the meeting with Aliberti, Chairman Hue described the signing and enforcement of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) as the current biggest achievement of both sides. He reiterated Vietnam’s readiness to support the increased EU presence in Southeast Asia and coordinate the implementation of the ASEAN-EU Action Plan until 2027, and help the EU connect with the ASEAN market.

Ambassador Aliberti hailed the National Assembly Chairman’s role in promoting EU-Vietnam relations in recent years, especially the relationship between the European Parliament and the National Assembly of Vietnam. He expressed his hope that the EU will not only invest in Vietnam in energy transition, but also have a long-term presence in Vietnam in many other fields.

Meeting with Swiss Ambassador Thomas Gass, National Assembly Chairman Hue affirmed that Switzerland has always been an important and reliable partner of Vietnam. He expected the two sides will increase trade and investment because trade turnover between Vietnam and Switzerland has totaled only 800 million USD.

Thomas Gass talked about his personal experiences after five months of his mission in Vietnam and his visits to a number of localities where Swiss businesses are headquartered. The Ambassador said he is pleased to see the increasing presence of Swiss technologies.
