During the nine-day festival, visitors will have an opportunity to see the “hau dong” (going into a trance) ritual performed by 100 mediums from 20 provinces and cities, listen to “chau van” or Vietnamese ceremonial singing performed by 30 artists participating in the "Sacred Motherland" competition at Dong Cuong temple, and visit a photo exhibit called “The land and people of Van Yen”.
This festival celebrates the heritage of Mother Goddess worshipping, and honors artists performing spirit possession rituals at temples and palaces dedicated to the Mother Goddesses.
This event also promotes the tourism potential of Van Yen district, which has a national historical relic of Dong Cuong Temple.
