Mr. Mai said strict social distancing measures in Ho Chi Minh City are still in place, but supermarkets and goods supply chains will be open across the city. If the pandemic is contained by September 15, e-commerce, medical supplies, food, and gas businesses can operate under safety guidelines, he added.
"We will consider when to let them resume based on the pandemic’s development and safe areas. If we can monitor their personnel, routes, and locations, we will be able to gradually reopen those businesses," he said.
Mr. Mai said Ho Chi Minh City is continuing to provide financial support packages for residents, and will come up with new packages after September 15. The city will talk to the State Bank of Vietnam about support policies for businesses, such as restructuring debt repayment terms, interest exemptions, and debt reduction.
Vaccination of workers is being accelerated, and new support policies for SMEs are being implemented.
