(VOVworld) – The revised Heath Insurance Law will broaden access for insured people to health care services. Under the revised bill, heath insurance will increase its coverage from 95% to 100% of poor, ethnic people in disadvantaged areas and other social beneficiaries.

In the 6th general meeting held on Wednesday in Hanoi to discuss policies on health insurance during the 2009-2012 period, as well as the Law on the Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Health Insurance, legislator Pham Khanh Phong Lan of Ho Chi Minh city said: "Current heath insurance policies are unable to attract people to join voluntarily. The main cause may be the low quality of heath-care services. To create a legal framework so that we can fix this problem, I suggest adding an article regarding heath insurance quality, placing detailed requirements on the heath sector to achieve the expected quality outcomes."
Opinions from the legislators will be collected and appended to the Law on the Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Health Insurance, to be submitted to the National Assembly 6th session which will take place late next month.
