Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs update about Vietnamese vessel seized by Iran

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Spokeswoman Pham Thu Hang has updated the press about information about Iran’s seizing a Vietnamese vessel when in movement in the Oman Gulf. 

Speaking in a regular press briefing on Thursday, Hang said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has held talks with the Iranian embassy in Hanoi, and the Vietnamese embassy in Iran has held talks with the Iranian authorities to verify information and settle the incident to ensure safety and humane treatment for Vietnamese citizens. During communications with the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran, the Captain of the MV Southys said all 26 Vietnamese seafarers were treated well and in normal health condition. The Foreign Ministry and the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran will closely follow up and regularly work with Iranian authorities to settle the case in compliance with the law and take necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the Vietnamese citizens.
