Over the past two days Ambassador and Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations Dang Hoang Giang attended the Ministerial Meeting to prepare for the Summit in Kampala, where the participants agreed on the final draft of a document to submit to leaders for approval at the Summit.

The document covers important global and regional issues, including the East Sea issue. It acknowledges the results of recent ASEAN Foreign Ministerial Meeting on the East Sea, especially the ASEAN Foreign Ministerial Meeting held in July 2023. It calls on all parties to exercise restraint and resolve sovereignty and territorial disputes in the East Sea by peaceful means, without resorting to or threatening to use force. The document also emphasizes member countries’ commitment to multilateralism and upholding international law and the UN Charter.
