(VOVworld) - Malaysia told the UN Security Council on Thursday that it plans to submit a resolution on an international tribunal to prosecute those responsible for shooting down MH17, the Malaysia Airlines plan over Ukraine last year.
New Zealand's UN ambassador Gerard van Bohemen, president of the UN Security Council for July, said Malaysia and 4 investigating countries are seeking to find the perpetrators.
The Malaysia Airlines passenger plane crashed in July 17, 2014, with the loss of all 298 people on board.
Ukraine and the West suspect it was destroyed by a Russian surface-to-air missile fired by Russian soldiers or Russia-backed separatist rebels fighting in the area. Moscow denies the claims and Russian officials and the state media have alleged the plane was shot down by a Ukrainian missile or fighter plane.
