Merkel met in Moscow on Friday to discuss a new Ukraine peace
plan.

According to Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the talk was private and
direct among three leaders with no precipitation of other members of
delegation. After arriving at Vnokono airport in Moscow, the German and French leaders
immediately headed to Kremlin palace to meet with Russian President Vladimir
Putin.
A day earlier, German Chancellor
Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande made a surprise visit to Kiev to talk with
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to push for a diplomatic solution to the
crisis. After the meeting, no announcement from the two leaders was released to
the press.
