The French Interior Ministry reported that nearly 91,000 people took part in nationwide demonstrations, carrying banners calling for an end to fascism.
Some of them engaged in violent clashes with police. In Paris, three people were injured, including an anti-riot police officer, and two arrested individuals. Additional three arrests were made in other cities.
The protests took place as the French government reaffirmed its commitment to tighten immigration policies and strengthen border controls.
