(VOVworld) – The 6^th session of the National Election Council (NEC) opened on Wednesday in Hanoi.

During the session, National Assembly and NEC Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that the election for the 2016-2021 term took place lawfully. 496 National Assembly deputies and more than 320,000 deputies for People’s Councils at all levels were elected. 99% of eligible voters voted. Chairwoman Ngan said: “Election day was a great day for the people with an exciting atmosphere. The results of the election will soon be announced.”

The NEC will hold a press conference on June 9th to announce the list of deputies for the 14^th National Assembly.
