(VOVworld) – Libyan militiamen kidnapped 10 staff members from Tunisia's consulate in Tripoli on Friday. Tunisia has not yet announced their identities. A foreign ministry statement said that all government services are following developments with interest in coordination with Libyan, regional and international parties, to liberate without delay the Tunisian mission team and guarantee its safety. The Foreign Ministry described it as a flagrant violation of international and diplomatic norms.
Libya has been in chaos since the 2011 civil war. There are currently two governments fighting for power in the country, with the one considered legit by the UN stationed in Tobruk. Their rivals are holding out in Tripoli.
