He asked authorities to continue supporting local people, especially the Khmer ethnic minority.
President Thuong also extended Tet greetings to the Catholic community in Vinh Long Diocese. He said that the Party and the State always respect and create the best conditions for the people to exercise their freedom of religion and belief.
The same day, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang visited and extended Lunar New Year greetings to people and the police force in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh. He presented Tet gifts from the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Trade Union to poor households and workers.
In the northern mountain province of Cao Bang, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai attended a program to distribute gifts to local workers.
“On behalf of Party and State leaders, I extend New Year greetings and present these small gifts to workers in Cao Bang province, hoping you'll enjoy a happy Tet. I also hope that business leaders will pay more attention to the lives of their employees,” he said.
President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Do Van Chien participated in a Tet gift-giving program for over 1,000 families in the southern province of Binh Duong.
