(VOVworld) - The National Assembly’s Social Affairs Committee commented on a supervision report on policies and laws for the elderly and people with disabilities.  During the session on Tuesday, delegates called for more insurance coverage for the elderly due to their poor participation in healthcare insurance. They supported an increase in allowance for those above 80. Huynh Thanh Lap is a deputy from Ho Chi Minh City: “Geriatric departments are available in half of provincial hospitals. Schools of medicines and pharmaceuticals must adjust their training plans to increase the number of geriatric doctors and clinics.”

Delegates voiced their concern about the challenges facing the handicapped in job seeking, disabled - unfriendly transport facilities and dedicated vocational training centers. They said more information was needed to change social awareness about the capacity of people with disabilities.
