He suggested that with a 230 km long borderline with China and many border gates and markets, in addition to its position in the economic corridors involving Nanning of China and major economic hubs like Hanoi, Hai Phong, and HCM City, Lang Son should develop the border economy, capitalizing on the giant Chinese market. The province serves as an important gateway connecting China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which, Mr. Phuc said, would facilitate border trade and services.
"Apart from economic development, Lang Son needs to focus on high-tech agriculture, new-style rural area building, sustainable poverty reduction, health care and education, especially in remote and disadvantaged areas. The province is also encouraged to develop the agro-forestry in mountainous and rural areas, focusing on forestation and forest protection", said. Mr. Phuc.
Also on Monday morning, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc discussed with Da Nang city authorities a project on building Lien Chieu port.
