(VOVworld)- Japan has shown its support for ASEAN leaders’ call for restraint and reducing tension in the East Sea after China illegally placed oil rig HD 981 in Vietnam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf. Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Japan hoped that the parties concerned would not take any unilateral escalating actions and show restraint in accordance with international law. Japan is deeply concerned about escalating tension in the region due to China’s unilateral actions.
