(VOVworld) – The Japanese Diet on Friday passed Japan’s biggest–ever budget, a 937-billion USD spending package aimed at bolstering growth as consumers face Japan’s first sales tax hike in over 15 years.

A spokesman said 136 members in the 242-member senate, which is controlled by the Liberal Democratic Party, voted for the budget. The Lower House approved the budget last month.
