(VOVworld) – The Islamic State on Thursday claimed responsibility for an attack on a police post outside Moscow the day before, in which both of the attackers were killed.

In a statement published by its Amaq News Agency, IS said the two attackers had assaulted Russian policemen in the Balashikha area of eastern Moscow.
Earlier at least four people were killed when two Middle Eastern men used guns and axes to attack a police post under the Directorate for Road Traffic Safety, on Schelkovskoe Highway, said Russian Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk. Two policemen were injured, one of whom is in a critical condition. The two attackers were shot and killed soon thereafter. Russian officials are investigating so as to identity the attackers and their motivation.
