(VOVworld) - Iraq's parliament approved a new government headed by Prime Minister Haider Abadi on Monday. The defense and interior ministers are still unnamed due to political differences.

Salih al-Mutlak, a Sunni, Bahaa al-Araji, a Shiite, and Kurdish politician and former Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari were named deputy prime ministers. Abadi appointed Ibrahim al-Jaafari, a leading Shiite figure and former prime minister, as foreign minister, and Adel Abdul-Mahdi, a Shiite, as oil minister. The Iraqi parliament also approved an action program for the next 4 years, focused on getting all parties and sects involved in national reconciliation, building a military, participating in security and anti-terrorism and resolving disputes with the autonomous Kurdistan region.
