Parliament met last week for the first time since its election in April and planned to meet again on Tuesday. The office of acting speaker Mehdi al-Hafidh said the scheduled session was delayed but did not give any further details. The state-run television channel Iraqiya reported that al-Hafidh decided to set August 12 as the new date of the session. The parliament session last Monday ended in chaos when political factions failed to reach an agreement on the three top posts in the Iraqi government. The same day, Major General Najm Abdullah Sudan was killed by shelling in western Baghdad.
