(VOVWORLD) -An Iraqi military parade celebrating the final victory over the Islamic State was held in Baghdad's heavily fortified Green Zone on Sunday.

Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared final victory over the Islamic State on Saturday after Iraqi forces drove the last remnants from the country, three years after the terrorist group captured a third of Iraq's territory.  Al-Abadi declared December 10 an annual national holiday.
