(VOVworld) - Iran’s parliament passed a bill on Tuesday obliging the government to safeguard the country’s “nuclear rights and achievements,” despite on-going talks with global powers on curbing Iran’s controversial atomic program.

The bill stipulates that Iranian members of parliament will have to approve any deal reached with the West. The bill allows inspections of nuclear sites but not military or sensitive non-nuclear establishments.

President Hassan Rouhani’s government has criticized parliament for passing the bill. Rouhani’s spokesman, Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, said the bill, which still has to be signed into law by Iran’s Guardian Council, is unconstitutional, as it goes against Iranian security and defense policies.
