Iranian President-elect Hassan Rohani in his victory address has called for international community respect and recognition of Iran in return for appropriate response. Speaking on Friday, the moderate reform cleric said his victory is that moderation over extremism. Rohani, 64, in his televised address, said Iran and world powerhouses could expand relations based on mutual respect and for peace, security and development in the world. United Nations Chief Ban Ki Moon has congratulated Mr Rohani’s victory and urged Tehran to play a constructive role in international issues. The US said it is ready to hold direct talks with Iran on its controversial nuclear program while Britain expects the new president will lead the Islamic Republic to a different path in the future.
