The statement was made by Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, on Saturday. He added that the most important objective of the deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was the lifting of sanctions.

Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated after US President Donald Trump opposed the deal between Iran and the P5+1 group, which includes the UK, France, the US, Russia, China, and Germany. Under the agreement, Iran agreed to halt its uranium enrichment in exchange for the lifting of international sanctions.
