Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh said Sunday that considering recent actions and statements by the US and European powers, it is not a suitable time for the meeting, which was proposed by Federica Mogherini, the European Commission’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Washington on Sunday said the same day it is "disappointed" that Iran refused the meeting, but is still ready to reengage in meaningful diplomacy to achieve a mutual return to compliance with the deal’s commitments.
A White House spokesperson said the US will consult with the UK, China, France, Germany, and Russia to find a good solution.
