In an interview with the state news agency, IRIB, the head of Iran's nuclear programme Ali Akbar Salehi announced that Iran has broken new ground on nuclear technology, with scientists taking the first steps to design a modern process for 20 percent uranium enrichment. The nuclear deal that Iran reached in 2015 with world powers prevented Tehran from enriching uranium above 3.67 percent. President Donald Trump has already pulled the US out of the deal, which lifted sanctions on Iran in exchange for limits on its nuclear program.
