(VOVworld) – The 132nd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU 132) closed in Hanoi on Wednesday. IPU 132 released the Hanoi Declaration, affirming the IPU’s vision regarding sustainable development. The Hanoi Declaration declares commitments to communicating sustainable development goals to voters in all nations. The Declaration says that as representatives of the people, we should care about the protection of public interests and pursue common prosperity. We are committed to issuing laws and policies appropriate to national development plans. Every year, governments should report to parliaments the implementation of national plans. Parliaments are required to collect voter feedback to evaluate the implementation of national plans. The core message of the Hanoi Declaration and the Quito Communiqué will be reflected in the outcomes of the 4th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, which will provide the content for the UN Summit in September.
