The Tokyo  Olympics is scheduled to be held from July 23 to August 8, while the Paralympics will take place from August 24 to September 5.

The Organizing Committee, the Japan Government, and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) have decided not to allow spectators from abroad to enter Japan.

About 15,000 athletes are expected to participate in the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games. They will be tested for COVID-19 daily and asked to minimize physical interaction while competing to prevent the risk of infection.

The IOC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the US pharmaceutical company Pfizer and Germany's BioNTech to provide COVID-19 vaccine to athletes.
