(VOVworld) - Donors meeting in Kuwait on Wednesday pledged nearly 1.3 billion USD in humanitarian aid for victims of the Syrian war.
The one-day meeting was chaired by UN chief Ban Ki-moon with delegates from about 70 countries and 24 international organizations.

The meeting comes just a week before the so-called 'Geneva II' peace meeting aimed at finding a political solution to the 34-month conflict that has claimed 130,000 lives.

According to humanitarian organizations, 10.5 million Syrians are suffering from a shortage of food; more than 1 million children under 5 are seriously malnourished; half of Syria’s total population have no clean water, and 8.6 million individuals lack needed medical care.
