By the end of last year, Ho Chi Minh City had over 1.13 million elderly people, the city’s aging index was 49.4% while the national figure was 48.8%.

Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy expressed her hope the elderly will always be promoted and fully cared for, especially those in difficult circumstances. On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee gave 240 gifts to lonely and unfortunate elderly people.

Dao Ngoc Lan, a senior citizen attended the event, said: “The city takes comprehensive and thoughtful care of the elderly. There are creative ways to organize activities for the elderly.”
