An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council was held in New York on Friday calling for an immediate investigation into the crash. Vietnamese ambassador to the UN Le Hoai Trung asked for an independent investigation into the cause of the tragic crash. He added that as an ASEAN member Vietnam will stand side by side with the Malaysian government and people to deal with this tragedy. Vietnam called for immediate and responsible acts by related sides and extended condolences to governments, people and families of the victims.

Speaking at a Whiter House’s press conference, US President Barack Obama said the Malaysian plane was shot down by a surface-to-air missile that was launched from rebel-controlled territory. But he stressed that the separatists were not capable of operating such a modern missile without the support and training of Russia. President Obama called for a cease-fire between Ukraine and pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine to allow a complete investigation into the plane. Malaysian Prime Minister Nariv Rajak said that Malaysia must and will find out the cause the crash. Holland and Australia are working to promote the investigation into the plane crash. The foreign Ministers of Germany, France and Poland on Friday reached agreement on the situation in Ukraine and called for an immediate cease-fire to allow a complete investigation into the crash.
