Last Friday, about 300 well-equipped soldiers of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) approached the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Tawang district, Arunachal Pradesh state, India. The Indian army sent forces to confront the Chinese. When clashes broke out, both sides quickly withdrew.
The regional commander of the Indian army then met with his Chinese counterpart to discuss the incident on the basis of existing mechanisms to restore peace and order at the border.
