(VOVworld) – Indian President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Uri Army base in North India’s Jammu and Kashmir State.

He claimed that New Delhi will thwart the evil plots of terrorists and their backers, adding that India will not be cowed down by such attacks. President Mukherjee paid tributes to the soldiers who made supreme sacrifice, and sent his condolences to the families of those who laid down their lives in the terror attack. The same day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condemned the outrageous attack and said the terrorists will be punished.
On Sunday morning, a group of terrorists equipped with heavy weapons attacked a military base in Uri, which left 17 soldiers dead and 19 others injured. 4 suspected terrorists have been killed and manhunt campaign has been launched around the area.
