Following the meeting, Mr. Jaishankar said "differences should not become disputes, nor should competition ever become conflict", while affirming that peace and stability along the Line of Actual Control are prerequisites for improving bilateral ties. He expressed his hope that the ongoing dialogue will lay a foundation for a stable, forward-looking relationship that serves the interests of both nations.

During Mr. Wang Yi’s visit to India, he will hold a 24th round of border talks with Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. Mr. Wang is also expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said that in recent rounds of talks, the two sides have reached understandings on delimitation negotiations and border management and are actively implementing agreements through diplomatic channels this year.
