(VOVworld) – Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc visited police officers of Da Nang city on Wednesday, the first day of the new lunar year. He said that in 2015 many important political events including the 12th National Party Congress will be held so the city’s police force should fulfill its task of ensuring political security and order, contributing to national construction and defense. The same day Mr. Phuc paid a Tet visit to the Party Committee of Hai Chau district, Da Nang city. He asked the district to lead in all movements and promote trade, service, and tourism.

An art performance was held in Can Tho city on Tuesday as part of activities to care for workers, war veterans, and poor people in the Mekong river delta. The Steering Committee for the Southwestern Region presented 250 Tet gifts to 250 poor workers in Can Tho, Vinh Long, Soc Trang, and Hau Giang province and war veterans of Can Tho city. Le Van Nep, a war veteran of Thoi Lai district, Can Tho city, said: “I’m glad that the Party and State really care about poor war veterans. This Tet gift means a lot to me. I hope that we will be better off in the new year.”

The same day Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien visited patients in Tu Du hospital in HCM city where she asked the doctors to better care for the people: “The hospital must limit the number of patients sharing the same bed. The quality and morality of midwives should be improved. The hospital should also focus on improving professionalism and applying high-technology.”

Minister Tien also paid Tet visits to other hospitals in HCM city. 

On new year’s eve, the Labor Confederation of Ba Ria Vung Tau province visited and presented Tet gifts to urban environment workers of Ba Ria and Vung Tau city. Provincial trade unions presented approximately 14,000 Tet gifts worth 200, USD to workers in the area.

In An Giang, provincial leaders extended Tet greetings to forces on duty on new year’s eve in Long Xuyen city.
