Despite war, conflict, crime in many parts of the planet, this small Nordic country has firmly retained its top position in the rankings, a position it has held since 2008.

The top 10 of the GPI 2022 rankings include New Zealand, Ireland, and Denmark.

At the bottom of the list is Afghanistan, which has held this position for the past five years.

Globally, the average peace index is down 0.3% from 2021.
