Amano said IAEA still has access to all facilities related to Tehran’s nuclear program as needed. He asked Iran to further strengthen its cooperation with IAEA.
IAEA is responsible for supervising Iran’s narrowing of its nuclear program under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) signed in 2015 between Iran and the P5+1 group, which includes the US, the UK, France, Russia, China, and Germany. After US President Donald Trump announced the US's withdrawal from the deal last month, IAEA has several times confirmed Tehran’s compliance with its commitments under the deal and continued to cooperate with IAEA.
